-
Our Psychologists, Educational Consultants, Speech and language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists are familiar with working with multilingual families.
How long does a consultation and an assessment take?
-
We need to leave two hours in total free for a consultation as time will be spent not only with the child/young person but also with the parents
-
The assessment process can take a minimum of a first session of 2-4 hours and follow up sessions can be needed with a young child, or a long break provided between tasks in the case of an older child/person. Two parent meetings usually take place, one on the day of the service and another as a follow up to go through the assessment findings
-
Breaks are provided during testing. The timing is very important and our client services coordinator will let you know about this once the details of testing have been established.
When will the outcome of the assessment be available?
-
In the case of an assessment rather than a consultation, a comprehensive report will be made available in approximately 4-6 weeks from the date of the assessment.
-
The timing of the report can be earlier in special circumstances, for example school admissions, where resources are available.
-
In the case of a consultation the parent will be informed of the preliminary findings.
What will the assessment report include?
The report will include:
-
Details of the tests undertaken
-
The results of each test
-
Diagnostic indicators
-
Any special factors or observations at the time of testing
-
Recommendations that include strategies for home and school
-

-
Knowing about your child and what ‘readiness to learn’ or study skills are important for establishing a success cycle in the group learning environment is also important
